Africa Action's Most Wanted

Click to download the Most Wanted PosterAs part of our Africa's Right to Health campaign (predecesor to the Campaign to End HIV/AIDS in Africa), Africa Action is targeting President Bush and those around him as Africa Action's MOST WANTED, for criminal obstruction of global HIV/AIDS funding and expanded treatment. We are mobilizing nationwide to put pressure on President Bush to keep his promises.

There are 6 key decision-makers that have been placed on Africa Action’s MOST WANTED list. President Bush is the center of this deadly deception, but he is aided and abetted in his crimes by the five other MOST WANTED.

During the upcoming election year, President Bush’s public image will be more vulnerable than ever. This is an opportune moment to demand he keep his promises to a continent under siege, by funding $15 billion to fight AIDS in Africa. We will pressure these leaders by exposing their mass deception and murder by complacency. If you would like to take action to highlight the MOST WANTED, please click here to learn about our latest tactics and actions.

Who They Are

George W. Bush - Wanted for Mass Deception

#1 President George W. Bush

Wanted for Mass Deception

In his 2003 State of the Union Address, President Bush promised $15 billion to fight AIDS in Africa, but he has stood in the way of Congress giving the money.

#2 Secretary Colin Powell

Wanted for Complacency

Secretary of State Powell has said the AIDS pandemic is “ a greater security threat than terrorism.” But he has not pressed the White House to make AIDS in Africa a U.S. priority.

#3 Condoleezza Rice

Wanted for Deadly Apathy

Rice as National Security Advisor promotes a war that costs over $4 billion a month, but does nothing about the $3 billion a year promised to fight AIDS in Africa.

#4 Secretary Tommy Thompson

Wanted for Negligence

Secretary of Health and Human Services Thompson is responsible for ensuring funding for Domestic AIDS programs and the Global Fund to fight AIDS. He has failed at both.

#5 Hank McKinnell

Wanted for Drug Racketeering

As Pfizer CEO, PhRMA chief (Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America), and Bush’s advisor on AIDS, his dedication to drug company profits helps to ensure that only 1% of Africans with HIV/AIDS have access to lifesaving drugs.

#6 Sen. Bill Frist

Wanted for Malpractice

Senator Frist, “Dr. Do- Little”, claims to care about Africa’s AIDS crisis, but as Senate Majority leader he helps Bush block access to treatment and AIDS funding in Congress.
