Please join Africa Action, Foreign Policy In Focus/IPS, Somali Student Association at George Mason University and TransAfrica Forum, as we host Somali Scholar Ahmed Samatar for a discussion on Somalia and U.S. policy under the Obama Administration.

Professor Samatar will provide expert analysis on the dire and complex situation in Somalia while giving concrete recommendations for Obama Administration policy in Somalia and the broader Horn of Africa region.

Ahmed Samatar is the James Wallace Professor of International Studies and Dean of the Institute for Global Citizenship at Macalester College in St. Paul Minnesota.  Professor Samatar, formerly a BBC broadcaster, is the author and editor of several books, and articles on Somalia.  He has taught at universities around the world including Cornell, Harvard, London School of African and Oriental Studies, London School of Economics and Political Science, and the University of Cape Town, among others.
